Bayou Adventure Race

2014 Bayou Adventure Race

Located in Terry Hershey Park

Date: SATURDAY, February 22nd, 2014
TIME: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Due to the recent weather the conditions on Buffalo Bayou have become unfavorable with a large number of Log jams blocking our race path. After careful consideration it has been determined that the course would not be race ready in time which would lead to an unsafe event.

It is with a sad heart that we regrettably have to announce that the 2014 Bayou Adventure Race is now officially cancelled.

Due to the complex scheduling of the Bayou Preservation Association, we will not be able to schedule a make up date.

Therefore, the next Bayou Adventure Race will be the 2015 Bayou Adventure Race.

The Bayou Preservation Association will host the first annual Cypress Creek Regatta on September 13th. Stay tuned for more information on this new race.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused to our sponsors and to our participants.

Bayou Adventure Race Committee

The 2014 Third Annual Bayou Adventure Race will consist of three legs. The first leg will be a 5K run along the South and North banks of Buffalo Bayou from Dairy Ashford to Highway 6. As runners arrive at Highway 6 they will quickly grab their boats and paddle down the Buffalo Bayou for 5K until they reach the Dairy Ashford takeout. After carrying their boats up to the transition area, competitors will switch to their mountain bikes and race for 10K to 15k around the dirt trails of Terry Hershey Park and return to where it all began to declare a winner.

This year on top of the normal three legged adventure race we will also have a 10K run, a Duathalon consisting of just two events, an adventure race relay where three member teams will compete, each doing one section of the adventure race, and finally a Half Marathon!
